City and county officials resumed search and rescue operations Sunday for a 12-year-old girl who reportedly fell from a WaveRunner-type watercraft into San Vicente Reservoir late Saturday afternoon.
Mónica Muñoz, a spokeswoman for the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department, said in an email Sunday that lifeguards had spoken with the boat operator to narrow down their search location.
San Diego Public Utilities Department divers and Lakeside Fire Department personnel are also involved in the search.
Muñoz said sonar technology was also being deployed to locate the girl.
San Diego lifeguard Lt. Rich Stropky told NBC 7 the girl was in the boat’s bow and wearing a life jacket when she fell overboard. The life jacket was later found in the water.
Officials searched until about sunset Saturday before stopping for the night.
The San Vicente Reservoir will be closed Sunday, the fire department announced on Twitter.
