OAKLAND — Two men were wounded by gunfire Wednesday night as they stood on an East Oakland sidewalk, police said Thursday.
Both men are expected to recover.
The two 26-year-old men were standing in the 2600 block of Fruitvale Avenue about 9:52 p.m. when another man approached them and began shooting at them, authorities said.
The two men were taken to a hospital.
The gunman ran from the scene and is being sought by police.
No motive has been determined yet.
The area where the shooting happened is a mixture of commercial and residential buildings and has seen several shootings, including some fatalities, in recent years. But police said it was too early to say if Wednesday night’s shooting was linked to any of the prior violence.
Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $10,000 in reward money for information leading to the arrest of the gunman. Anyone with information may call police at 510-238-3426 or Crime Stoppers at 510-777-8572.
