Meanwhile, the cast addressed the skepticism surrounding the upcoming series at the network’s Upfront presentation on Thursday, and they totally understand why fans of the original series have their reservations.
But Madeleine Mantock, Melonie Diaz, and Sarah Jeffrey, who are playing brand new sisters Macy, Mel and Madison, still have one request for the critics of their new show: don’t knock it till you try it!
Speaking to Us Weekly on the red carpet, 22-year-old Jeffrey said:
“We understand that you loved the original, but give us a try. You may like it.”
Hear that, Holly Marie Combs? These new sisters might just charm you after all!
The actresses were quick to express their love for the original series, which ran on The CW for eight seasons. While the new iteration will no doubt “honor” the OG, the girls added, 2018 Charmed is very much its own story.
28-year-old Mantock explained:
“When we were cast, we went to work and shot it. That is our reality, so there’s not too much focus on the original. Of course we respect it, and I’m confident that it will remain intact and can be still enjoyed by everybody who really cherishes it. They’re very different entities. We want to honor what the original Charmed had and did but we’ve very much got our own thing going on.”
She added a personal message to show’s protective fandom:
“We come in peace.”
But will fans? We’ll find out when Charmed premieres in the fall.
